Gala Concert Celebrating the 100th Anniversary of Maya Plisetskaya
Maya Plisetskaya (1925–2015), one of the greatest ballerinas of the 20th century, was often referred to by her contemporaries as the “First Lady of Dance.” She represented a rare example of exceptional artistic longevity, having performed on stage for nearly sixty years and leaving behind a rich legacy in both Russian and world culture. Her work became an entire era in the history of ballet.
The program of the evening will include renowned works from Maya Plisetskaya’s repertoire that have become part of ballet history, such as Carmen Suite, The Dying Swan, Don Quixote, as well as excerpts from Swan Lake, Sleeping Beauty, The Stone Flower, Spartacus, Raymonda, Walpurgis Night, Shurale, Laurencia, and the choreographic miniature Melody from the opera Orpheus and Eurydice.
The gala concert will feature leading soloists from Russia’s most prestigious ballet theatres.
Among the performers are a principal ballerina of the Bolshoi Theatre, a People’s Artist of Russia, honored artists and international competition laureates, as well as soloists of the Mariinsky Theatre — distinguished representatives of the finest Russian ballet tradition.

Майя Плисецкая (1925–2015), одна из величайших балерин XX века, часто называлась современниками «Первой леди танца». Она представляла собой редкий пример исключительной артистической долголетности, выступая на сцене почти шестьдесят лет и оставив богатое наследие как в русской, так и в мировой культуре. Ее творчество стало целой эпохой в истории балета.
В программу вечера войдут известные произведения из репертуара Майи Плисецкой, ставшие частью истории балета, такие как «Кармен-сюита», «Умирающий лебедь», «Дон Кихот», а также отрывки из «Лебединого озера», «Спящей красавицы», «Каменного цветка», «Спартака», «Раймонды», «Вальпургиевой ночи», «Шурале», «Лауренсии» и хореографическая миниатюра «Мелодия» из оперы «Орфей и Эвридика».
В гала-концерте примут участие ведущие солисты крупнейших балетных театров России.
На сцену выйдут прима-балерина Большого театра, народная артистка России, заслуженные артисты и лауреаты международных конкурсов, а также солисты Мариинского театра — представители элиты современной русской балетной школы.
Их мастерство, сценическая культура и безупречная техника продолжают традиции великого классического наследия.

- Doors open 30 min before the show begins.
- Patrons arriving late to a performance will only be admitted into the venue at a suitable break. Latecomers may be seated in alternate seat locations to avoid disruption of the performance.
- The Cultural Foundation has limited free parking slots.
- Photography, audio, or video recording including camera phones are strictly prohibited inside the Cultural Foundation’s Theatre unless otherwise specified.
- No food or drinks are allowed inside the theatre.

By car: You can drive to the Cultural Foundation from anywhere in Abu Dhabi. You can park there for free.
By public transport: The Cultural Foundation is accessible by bus. The nearest bus station would be Abu Dhabi Bus station which is 1.2 Kilometeres away from the Cultural Foundation.
By taxi: You can also take a taxi to the Cultural Foundation. It’s a famous destination and most drivers would be familiar with its location.
